Privacy Policy

Last updated October 28, 2026. Home Informer ("we", "us") operates homeinformer.net. This page explains what we collect when you visit and what we do with it.

What we collect

• Your email address, only if you type it into one of our forms, for example to get the winter heating checklist.
• How you use the site: pages viewed, how far you scroll, what you tap, your approximate location from your IP address, device and browser type, and the page that sent you here.
• Advertising identifiers in the link you clicked: if you arrived from an ad, the link can carry a Facebook click ID (fbclid) and campaign tags (UTM parameters) that tell us which ad brought you.

Cookies and similar technologies

• Our own cookies. We store the campaign tags and click ID from your link in a cookie named hi_attr (30 days), and a Facebook click cookie named _fbc (90 days), so we can tell which ads lead to useful visits.
• Meta (Facebook) Pixel. We use the Meta Pixel to measure visits and actions on this site, such as clicking through to a seller or joining our email list, and to show relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. Meta's own policies govern its use of that data. You can manage ad preferences in your Facebook and Instagram settings.
• PostHog analytics. We use PostHog to understand how people read our pages. This includes page views, scroll depth, clicks and, for some visits, a recording of how the page was used. Text you type into form fields is masked in recordings, and we do not send your email address to our analytics.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some measurement will not.

How we use it

• To run and improve the site and measure whether our pages and ads are useful.
• To send you the checklist you asked for, along with occasional heating and home-safety tips and offers. Every email carries an unsubscribe option, or you can write to us at the address below.
• To comply with the law and to protect the site against abuse.

We do not sell your email address.

Who we share it with

Service providers that help us run the site and email (for example hosting, analytics and email delivery) and advertising platforms such as Meta, as described above. When you click a link to a seller, you leave our site and the seller's own privacy policy applies. We may share data if the law requires it.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or unsubscribe from email, at any time by writing to [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, and we will honor them.

Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above.
